ABSTRACT

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, teachers have to hesitantly switch to the virtual world of teaching, known as enriched virtual blended learning in which technology, surely plays a significant role in material delivery and discussion. Studies related to blended learning in English language classes, especially in academic writing classes, have been done in many countries, but they are still lacking in the Indonesian setting. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of technology utilization in enriched blended learning to teach academic writing and the students' perspectives towards the use of technology in blended learning. This study involving forty-five students in a university in Jakarta applied both quantitative and qualitative methods. A pre-test and a post-test were assigned before and after the blended learning period to study the effectiveness of blended learning. In addition, surveys and interviews were conducted to investigate the students' perspectives. The results indicated that the use of technology in blended learning effectively helped students develop their academic writing skills despite being a new experience. Furthermore, despite some limitations, this strategy of using technology in teaching-learning was accepted with optimism as they started to get accustomed to it. Hence, the use of technology is promising for the future of learning. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Online learning has been optimized all over the world during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, in Indonesia, this mode of learning brings several problems;mainly, limited internet access causing academic stress. This study was intended to analyze the impact of academic stress due to limited internet access in remote rural areas. The research applies a quantitative approach with purposive random sampling tested on 685 samples using Kendall's Tau-b test. The study results indicated the relationship between academic stress and the range of domiciles on internet access during the pandemic. The relationship between the academic stress variable and the range of residence to internet access during the pandemic is solid. Also, the level of academic stress experienced by students is relatively high based on the range of domicile for internet access during the pandemic. Thus, the lecturers must adopt the teaching methodology when teaching online platforms. © 2023, IGI Global.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: The objective of this study is to examine the effect of company resources on digital innovation, collaboration strategy, and business performance, as well as the effect of company resources on business performance through digital innovation and collaboration strategy. Research Design: This study uses a quantitative research approach. Observations were made in a cross-section time horizon, in 2022. The Population of this study is the ISP industry, which amounted to 474 companies, and the unit of observation was the management. Sampling used stratified random sampling. ISPs are grouped based on the size of each company based on the number of customers and branch cities are divided into 3 groups: small, medium, and large. Samples were taken many as 100 respondents. Sampling from each classification is done randomly based on a list of population members. Testing the causality hypothesis in this study used PLS (Partial Least Square). Results: the hypothesis testing reveals that company resources play a significant role in developing digital innovation and collaboration strategies. Company resources do not significantly directly affect business performance, but significantly affect business performance through digital innovation and collaboration strategy. Findings: The study provided managerial implications for ISP company management in Indonesia, that collaboration strategy and digital innovation can increase the influence of the development and utilization of company resources on business performance so that companies no longer have to develop and own all of their resources independently. By elaborating their collaboration strategy and digital innovation, companies can focus on developing key resources and additional digital innovations needed to increase the company's competitive advantage. Limitation: the measurement of variables was carried out based on the management's perception of the conditions and situations faced during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021-2022. To get a deeper understanding and truly describe the details of the empirical conditions, it is necessary to complement qualitative research through confirmatory and in-depth interviews. © 2023, World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society. ABSTRACT

This article explains the attitude of social groups who have been declared exposed to the Covid-19 virus and are undergoing isolation facilitated by the government for 6-10 days until they are declared cured. Because they undergo quarantine with strict controls, they leave their main obligations as family breadwinners or professional workers. In a situation that is completely restricted, they have no alternative but to accept and undergo all procedures and stages of quarantine until they are completed. The article data comes from several Covid-19 patients participating in quarantine in Banyumas district in February 2022. Using a sociological approach and religious interpretation, the attitude of accepting the quarantine situation points to two things, first, religion is present in people who experience powerlessness as a result of the dysfunction of science and technology. Second, in this situation of powerlessness, religion is present to offer solutions that are beyond reality or transcendental. From these two situations, the social groups participating in the Covid-19 quarantine gave rise to religious attitudes which in the perspective of religious interpretation are understood as the practice of the teachings of gratitude, patience, trustworthiness, prayer, wisdom, and ihtiyar.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruptions in educational institutions across the country, prompting medical schools to adopt online learning systems. This study aims to determine impact on medical education and the medical student’s attitude, practice, mental health after 1 year of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Methods: This study utilized a cross-sectional design. An online questionnaire was distributed digitally to 49 medical schools in Indonesia from February–May 2021. A total of 7,949 medical students participated in this study. Sampling was carried out based on a purposive technique whose inclusion criteria were active college students. This research used questionnaires distributed in online version among 49 medical faculties that belong to The Association of Indonesian Private Medical Faculty. Instruments included demographic database, medical education status, experience with medical tele-education, ownership types of electronic devices, availability of technologies, programs of education methods, career plans, attitudes toward pandemic, and the mental health of respondents. Univariate and bivariate statistical analysis was conducted to determine the association of variables. All statistical analyses using (IBM) SPSS version 22.0. Results: Most of the respondents were female (69.4%), the mean age was 20.9 ± 2.1 years. More than half of the respondents (58.7%) reported that they have adequate skills in using digital devices. Most of them (74%) agreed that e-learning can be implemented in Indonesia. The infrastructure aspects that require attention are Internet access and the type of supporting devices. The pandemic also has an impact on the sustainability of the education program. It was found that 28.1% were experiencing financial problems, 2.1% postponed their education due to this problems. The delay of the education process was 32.6% and 47.5% delays in the clinical education phase. Around 4% student being sick, self-isolation and taking care sick family. the pandemic was found to affect students’ interests and future career plans (34%). The majority of students (52.2%) are concerned that the pandemic will limit their opportunities to become specialists. Nearly 40% of respondents expressed anxiety symptoms about a variety of issues for several days. About a third of respondents feel sad, depressed, and hopeless for a few days. Conclusion: The infrastructure and competency of its users are required for E-learning to be successful. The majority of medical students believe that e-learning can be adopted in Indonesia and that their capacity to use electronic devices is good. However, access to the internet remains a problem. On the other side, the pandemic has disrupted the education process and mental health, with fears of being infected with SARS-CoV-2, the loss of opportunities to apply for specialty training, and the potential for increased financial difficulties among medical students. Our findings can be used to assess the current educational process in medical schools and maximize e-learning as an alternative means of preparing doctors for the future. ABSTRACT

In response to the Indonesian government's policy forcing a rapid transition to distance learning, the college developed an emergency e-learning plan to ensure learning continues. Generally, this paper aims to highlight the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Islamic universities in Indonesia, especially biology teacher education. This paper also describes lecturers' experiences in developing approaches different from those proposed by the institute. We used mixed methods to dig deeper into online teaching transition and its problems. Data was collected through a questionnaire on faculties and students studying at the biology education department of Islamic state universities in Sumatera, Java, Sulawesi, and Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Faculties and students expressed their attitudes, beliefs, and evaluations. The developed emergency e-learning cannot be used optimally due to potential factors, such as information and communication technologies (ICT) tools and technological pedagogical knowledge. Faculties improvised online teaching using other platforms such as WAG and e-mail, which are guaranteed easy access by students. In this way, they maintained social contact with students and ensured students to keep continuing to build literacy skills. Faculties also created content in the form of demonstration videos for practicum, which being uploaded on YouTube. Unless using the virtual laboratory is still a big problem. ABSTRACT

The Orang Dalam Pengawasan (ODP) and Pasien Dalam Pegawasan (PDP) Covid-19 monitoring system in the Health Service task force in Dago area is a system that monitors and records people who are indicated to be affected by the Covid-19 disease. Orang dalam Pengawasan means “people under monitoring” in Bahasa Indonesia while Pasien dalam Pegawasan means “patients under surveillance”. To support the ODP and PDP Covid-19 monitoring system, an application is needed that can assist in the monitoring process in the Health Office task force in the Dago area through the utilization of Android-based technology. This research aims to help the task force not be late in reporting the number of ODP and PDP to the Government of West Java Province. Moreover, it also aims to avoid differences for data between the public health center and the Health Service task force in the Dago area so that the results of this study are in the form of information about the total findings and monitoring of ODP and PDP Covid-19 every day through the Android application. This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The results show that the application could help the task force in reporting the number of ODP and PDP to West Java Province. In the ongoing system, when carrying out the monitoring process, the task force always contacts the health centers in Dago via telephone or WhatsApp for the data collection and reporting process to not be well computerized. It causes delays in reporting data to West Java Province. Problems also occurred with the amount of data due to the absence of a data closing system, which resulted in reports on the number of daily ODP and PDP Covid-19 data that were always differences between the public health center and the Health Office. In conclusion, this information system could help the reporting process. © 2021 University of Kuwait. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

Malaysia is one of the developing countries that facing high road accident in Asia. The most common accident happens is between motorcyclist and cars. A motorcyclist is 17 times more dangerous than passenger cars. Analysis shows the three main types of accidents in Malaysia is collision with passenger cars, collisions with other motorcycles and single-motorcycle accidents. Road accidents keep rising in Malaysia, because lacks road geometric design consistency where the drivers make mistakes errors due to the road geometric features. Design/methodology/approach: The study was conducted at F0050 from km 21 until km 25. By using GPS (DG -200), the continuous speed profile data were using new analysis method to develop road design consistency profile of motorcycle and cars and determined the value of the index the integrated road design consistency (IC). Findings: The developments of consistency model are based on parameter: the bounded area between the profile and the average speed, standard deviation of speed along a segment. Hence, use ACAD software for develops consistency model’s profile. The integrated-consistency model is the impact of the speed profile on design consistency in traffic and safety evaluations. The highest areas of an accident at km 24 are justified based on the design consistency of the area and integrated design consistency model between of car and motorcycle is poor design. The study shows that crashes and fatalities are fully affected by traffic volumes but road design performances and driving behavior. Research limitations/implications: However, the traffic volumes are relatively low in the whole country regarding to the Movement Control Order (MCO) due to the pandemic COVID-19 since March 2020. In contrast to the reduction of the volumes, the number of crashes still shows relatively high. Therefore, it shows that crashes and fatalities are influenced by other factors. Geometric factors such as access point, tangent length, curve length, shoulder width, and lane width are influencing an operating speed profile for developed tangents and curves of motorcycle and cars. Practical implications: The result of this study can be used as references to solve accident problems in Malaysia. Paper type: This study is categorized as a case study.
